Description

The Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) is forecasting a competitive grant program (FOA‑VETS‑27‑01) to fund up to 31 projects that assist homeless, at‑risk, or formerly incarcerated veterans (including women veterans and veterans with children) in achieving stable, high‑quality employment. Grants range from $150,000 to $500,000 per award, with a total estimated funding pool of $12 million. Recipients must provide comprehensive case‑management services, connect veterans to local supportive resources, and deliver job‑training or referral services that lead to sustainable employment outcomes. Eligible applicants include state, local, tribal, nonprofit, and for‑profit entities that maintain a physical presence in the proposed service area; U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam are also eligible. Applications are to be submitted electronically by 11:59 PM ET on March 17 2027, with the anticipated project start date of July 1 2027. • Funding: $150‑$500 k per award, total $12 M across 31 awards. • Target population: Homeless, at‑risk, and incarcerated veterans (including women and families). • Required services: Case management, linkage to community supports, employment‑training or referral mechanisms. • Eligible entities: State/local governments, tribal organizations, public housing authorities, nonprofits (501(c)(3) and others), for‑profit firms, higher‑education institutions, etc. • Submission: Electronic only, deadline March 17 2027, 11:59 PM ET. • Anticipated start: July 1 2027.

Budget estimate

$150,000 – $500,000

The FOA indicates a total funding envelope of $12 million for up to 31 awards, with each award ranging from a minimum of $150,000 to a maximum of $500,000. Assuming an organization receives a single award, the expected revenue would fall within that $150k–$500k band. Larger consortiums that win multiple awards could scale proportionally, but the per‑award ceiling remains $500k. Factors influencing the final budget include the scope of services proposed, the size of the veteran population served, and the degree of cost‑sharing required (the FOA states cost‑sharing is not required).
