Refuse and Waste Disposal Services RFP

The City of Calhoun is seeking a qualified company to provide refuse and waste disposal services for residential and commercial areas. The contract includes pick-up and disposal of residential garbage once per week, commercial containers two times per week, and additional containers for special events. The vendor must provide 95-gallon carts and pickup service in several locations operated by the Calhoun Housing Authority. The contract will be for a period of one year, with the option to renew. The city estimates that the number of 95-gallon container customers to be initially serviced under the contract is approximately 5,000. • The vendor must provide pickups on all holidays on the day of the holiday or the next working route day. • The vendor must provide a telephone number with an actual person to respond to citizens or City of Calhoun staff questions or complaints. • The vendor must agree to supply residential customers with up to three 95-gallon carts and commercial customers with up to three 95-gallon carts in areas that currently require three carts. • The vendor is responsible for approximately 35 carts located in the downtown area for customers that do not have access to the dumpsters provided by the city. • The vendor must provide service for special events in the downtown area.
