On-Call Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection Services

The City of Tacoma is seeking a qualified firm to provide on-call construction materials testing and special inspection services for various City sites and projects. The selected consultant will be required to provide periodic inspection, observation, and material sample preparation services at the project site. The scope of work includes structural steel inspections, structural concrete inspection, structural masonry inspection, proprietary anchor inspection, and fire-resistant systems inspection. The consultant must meet the minimum requirements, including being a registered Special Inspection Agency with the Washington Association of Building Officials and meeting the qualifications of the local Building Official for special inspecting and testing. The City intends to select a consultant based on qualifications and abilities, and the contract term is anticipated to be five years with the option to renew. • The consultant will be required to provide services on an as-needed basis, with a response time of 24 hours or as scheduled. • The consultant will be required to negotiate a scope and budget for each task and provide a Formal Task Authorization. • The consultant will be required to provide test reports documenting all tests, inspections, and site visits within 24 hours after completion. • The consultant may be required to upload reports to the City's online permitting system. • The City reserves the right to contact references other than those submitted by the consultant. • The consultant must comply with the City's insurance requirements, including commercial general liability insurance, commercial automobile liability insurance, workers' compensation, and professional liability insurance.
