Staff Support to Tribal Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee for Engagement with the United States (U.S.) Department of Energy on Radioactive Materials Transportation Planning

The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy seeks a prime recipient to provide staff support to the Tribal Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee (TRMTC). The award is a cooperative agreement valued up to $2 million over a five‑year period (FY 2027‑2031). The recipient will facilitate engagement between DOE and federally‑recognized Tribal governments on planning for transportation of used nuclear fuel (UNF), high‑level waste (HLW) and other radioactive materials. Core responsibilities include: • Providing primary staff support to TRMTC, preparing agendas, briefing materials, and meeting logistics. • Convening two TRMTC committee meetings per year (one aligned with DOE’s National Transportation Stakeholders Forum). • Assisting with strategic planning, policy analysis, and technical reviews related to radioactive material shipments. • Coordinating communication among Tribal members, DOE‑S&T, DOE‑OPT, and State Regional Groups. • Supporting travel, training, and participation in DOE meetings and conferences. • Delivering periodic reports, summaries, and recommendations to DOE. Eligibility is open to a wide range of domestic entities, including Tribal governments, higher‑education institutions, for‑profit and nonprofit organizations, and state/local governments. One award will be made; the award may be renewed annually subject to performance and funding availability.
