Description

The State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking bids for Weigh In Motion (WIM) Axle Sensors and associated components. The sensors will be used to collect vehicle weight, classification, speed, and volume data to provide a statistically sound basis for development of adjustment factors used in the conversion of short duration counts to estimate Annual Average Daily Traffic. The WIM sensors will be used throughout the state at new and existing data collection sites and will be installed in stable/good concrete or asphalt pavement at a free-flowing traffic location. • The contract will be awarded to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder(s) • The sensors will provide information for the development in annual growth and axle adjustment factors for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Traffic Forecasting, and Pavement Design of Wisconsin Highways • The WIM sensors will be installed in stable/good concrete or asphalt pavement at a free-flowing traffic location

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this contract is difficult to estimate without more information on the scope of work and the number of sensors to be installed. However, considering the complexity of the project and the need for specialized equipment, a rough estimate could be between $500,000 and $2,000,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contract will involve the installation of multiple sensors at various locations throughout the state, and that the cost of each sensor and its associated components will be in the range of $10,000 to $50,000.
