Buildings of Excellence Early Design Support

The Buildings of Excellence Early Design Support Request for Proposal (RFP) seeks proposals for qualified design firms to provide early-stage design support for new construction, adaptive reuse, and gut rehabilitation multifamily projects. The goal is to create clean, resilient, and carbon-neutral buildings that are functional, beautiful, and provide healthy living spaces for occupants. The RFP is part of the larger Buildings of Excellence Competition. Key aspects of the RFP include: • Design firms must demonstrate competence in clean, resilient, and carbon-neutral design, as well as architectural design quality and innovation. • Projects must serve the multifamily market sector, with a focus on mid- to high-rise buildings and adaptive reuse of commercial office, institutional, or retail space. • Eligible projects include new construction, adaptive reuse, and gut rehabilitation, with a minimum of 25,000 square feet of conditioned space. • Design firms may submit up to four project proposals per calendar year, with a maximum of two proposals with the same developer or owner. • Projects must demonstrate clean, resilient, and carbon-neutral attributes and meet the definition of carbon neutral.
