The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Caribbean District is conducting market research to identify parties interested in and capable of supporting the Rio de La Plata Flood Control Project, North Coast Super-Aqueduct Relocation Project in Dorado and Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. The project involves relocating approximately 1,000 feet of the North Coast Super-Aqueduct to perform channel improvements. The water line provides potable water to approximately 190,000 clients (600,000 citizens) of the north and metropolitan areas of Puerto Rico.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Relocation of approximately 1,000 feet of the North Coast Super-Aqueduct
• Installation of a 72-inch welded steel pipe between a parallel steel sheet pile system
• Coordination with PRASA during construction
• Provision of temporary bypass pipes to minimize service interruptions
• Requirement for the prime contractor to perform all work activities related to the wet tapping of the water line or have a first-tier subcontractor with at least 15 years of experience in similar wet tapping requirements
