Hydrant Sandblasting and Painting Services

The City of Elgin is seeking qualified contractors to submit bids for Fire Hydrant Sandblasting and Painting Services. The City owns and maintains an independent water system with approximately 7,500 fire hydrants and intends to paint approximately 2,500 hydrants per year over the next three years. The selected contractor will be responsible for furnishing all labor, equipment, tools, transportation, and materials necessary to complete the work. The project includes preparing each hydrant, sandblasting down to bare metal, applying a white or pink primer, and finishing with an International Orange urethane topcoat. • The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. • The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids. • The project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act. • The contractor must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. • The contractor must provide a performance bond in the amount of 100% of the contract award. • The contractor must provide a written substance abuse program that conforms with the requirements of Public Act 095-0635.
