The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a vendor to provide an Automated Medication Dispensing System. The system should be able to hold all medications as specified in the attachment A document and include a 25% growth annually in both the number of medications and count of each medication over the next 5 years. The system should also provide user authentication services compliant with VA Handbook 6500 and NIST 800-63. The vendor should propose solutions that would allow growth within the existing space, as the VA does not plan on purchasing additional cabinets at this point.
Key features of the system include:
• Ability to store medications in a single drawer with individual bins that have locking lids
• Ability to provide single dose dispensing for narcotics
• Ability to optimize use of space, which could mean locking bins instead of Controlled Substance Dispensers
• Ability to provide 60 months of support for the operating system
• Compliance with VA Handbook 6500 and NIST 800-63 for user authentication
• Ability to provide annual software and hardware support for a period of 12 months
