Notice of Intent to Noncompetitively Acquire Widely Tunable Laser with Fast Stabilization

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to award a non-competitive contract to Toptica Photonics for a widely tunable laser with fast stabilization. The laser is required to have a tuning range of at least 1510 nm to 1630 nm without mode hops, built-in frequency stabilization capabilities, and fast external stabilization electronics. The laser will be used for testing photonic sensors and integrated circuits. Although the contract is intended to be sole-source, other companies that believe they can meet NIST's minimum requirements are encouraged to respond to this notice. * The laser must have a tuning range of at least 1510 nm to 1630 nm without mode hops. * The laser must have built-in frequency stabilization capabilities to lock the laser to photonic sensors. * The laser must have fast external stabilization electronics to enable laser linewidth reduction and decrease frequency noise. * The controller for the laser must have an interactive screen for selecting operational modes, setting parameters, visualizing optical resonances, and selecting resonances for locking.
