Description

The Department of Defense (DoD) is soliciting applications for the fiscal year 2024 (FY24) Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) Idea Award. The goal of the PRCRP is to improve mission readiness and quality of life by decreasing the burden of cancer on Service Members, their Families, Veterans, and the American public. The Idea Award supports innovative, untested, high-risk/potentially high-reward concepts, theories, paradigms, and/or basic cancer research. • The proposed research project should include a well-formulated, testable hypothesis based on strong scientific rationale and study design. • Inclusion of preliminary data is discouraged, as this award is not intended to support ongoing research in the applicant’s laboratory. • Applications from investigators within the military services and applications involving multidisciplinary collaborations among academia, industry, the military services, the VA, and other federal government agencies are highly encouraged. • The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY24 PRCRP Idea Award should not exceed $400,000. • Awards supported with FY24 funds will be made no later than September 30, 2025.

$400,000 – $800,000

Based on the estimated funding of $16,000,000 and the anticipated number of awards (20), the budget for each award is likely to be around $800,000. However, the actual budget may vary depending on the specific project proposals and the evaluation of the applications. The budget may be influenced by factors such as the scope of the project, the number of personnel involved, and the equipment and resources required.
