Description

The City of Newport News is seeking bids from qualified firms to furnish Water Treatment Polymer to the Newport News Waterworks on an as-needed basis. The contract will be for a term of one year with the option to renew for four additional one-year periods. The City is looking for a contractor who can provide the polymer in 50 or 55 lb. bags on pallets, with a typical order consisting of two pallets of 36 bags each. The contractor must be able to deliver the polymer within 5 calendar days from the date of the order, and must have the capability to provide the goods and/or services specified. Some key points to consider: * The City has pretested and approved two polymers: DW22S KF-NC and SPEC DPC-LT22 SAC. * The contractor must have the experience and capability to fully perform the services or provide the goods specified. * The City reserves the right to request a reduction in price based on economic factors or market conditions during the contract term. * The contractor must maintain adequate liability insurance and provide proof of insurance prior to commencement of services. * The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Some benefits of this opportunity include: * The chance to work with a reputable government agency. * The potential for a long-term contract with renewal options. * The opportunity to provide a critical service to the City's water treatment plants. However, some challenges to consider: * The contractor must be able to meet the City's insurance requirements and provide proof of insurance. * The contractor must be able to deliver the polymer within a short timeframe. * The contractor must be able to provide the goods and/or services specified at a competitive price.

Budget estimate

$220,000 – $330,000

The estimated budget for this contract is difficult to determine without knowing the exact quantity of polymer to be delivered and the price per unit. However, based on the estimated annual quantities provided in the bid (14,000 lbs for Lee Hall Water Treatment Plant and 8,200 lbs for Harwoods Mill Water Treatment Plant), and assuming an average price of $2-3 per lb, the total contract value could be in the range of $44,000 to $66,000 per year. The total contract value over the 5-year period (including renewals) could be in the range of $220,000 to $330,000.
