The Resilient Software Systems (RSS) Accelerator program aims to drive the broad adoption and deployment of formal methods tools across diverse sectors. The program seeks to improve the cybersecurity posture of the Department of Defense (DoD) by applying formal methods tools to critical defense applications. The RSS Accelerator will provide seed funding to formal methods tool developers who partner with Defense Industrial Base companies to identify DoD systems that would benefit from the use of their tools. The program will conduct a three-step process: initial red team assessment, application of formal methods tools, and final red team assessment to measure the effectiveness of the tools. The program anticipates making multiple awards with individual awards at or below $3M. Key areas of focus include:
* Technical Approach: Innovative, feasible, and scalable formal methods technology solutions
* Broad Adoption: Strong potential for driving broad community adoption beyond the proposed DIB system
* Technical Qualifications: Strong technical understanding of the RSS Accelerator program and capabilities to fulfill its technical objectives
* Budget: Realistic, defensible, and affordable resources for the proposed solution
* Security Realism: Comprehensive and realistic security strategy to ensure proper safeguarding
