Security Guard Services

The City of Columbia is seeking a qualified security vendor to provide armed and unarmed security services at Rapid Shelter Columbia, The Recovery Center, and Overflow during winter. The selected vendor will be responsible for maintaining a safe, controlled, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, clients, and visitors. The scope of work includes monitoring facility entrances, enforcing safety protocols, conducting searches, responding to incidents, and providing consistent communication with shelter staff and leadership. The vendor must demonstrate strong communication and conflict-resolution skills, adhere to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct, and ensure reliable staffing and coverage for all shifts. • The security services will be provided 24 hours a day, with a minimum of 2-3 security guards posted at all times. • The vendor must have required certifications, including a Certificate for armed services through the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Trauma Informed Care Certification (TIC). • The vendor must provide a detailed description of their proposed approach, including their ability to meet the City's requirements, their team's qualifications and experience, and their plan for providing the services. • The vendor must also provide a price proposal, including staff hourly rates, and must be able to confirm proof of financial responsibility upon request.
