Description

The VA Nebraska‑Western Iowa Health Care System is seeking a qualified contractor to supply, de‑install, and install six new surgical lights and six utility booms in Operating Rooms 1‑6 at the Omaha VA Medical Center. The work includes removal of existing equipment, installation of new electrical circuits, conduit, Panduit runs, wall and ceiling mounts, functional testing, infection‑control compliance, waste disposal, minor repairs, and documentation. The VA will close the surgical suite for a maximum of 30 calendar days, so the contractor must complete all installation, testing, and turnover within that window. The contract also requires a single point of contact for ongoing maintenance support and a list of spare parts to be kept on‑hand.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $1,200,000

The solicitation does not disclose a total contract value. Based on typical costs for high‑end surgical lighting systems (≈ $70‑100 k per unit) plus utility booms (≈ $30‑50 k each), electrical and civil work, labor, travel, waste disposal, and a project‑management fee, a reasonable estimate for six complete installations ranges from roughly $500,000 to $1,200,000. Factors influencing the final amount include the selected LED specifications, any site‑specific electrical upgrades, travel distance to Omaha, and the need for rapid turnaround within a 30‑day shutdown.
