The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking proposals to support research of miniaturized CO2 sensor prototype development and novel physiologic gas monitoring. The goal is to create a noninvasive CO2 sensing technology that can be used in home sleep apnea testing devices, remote monitoring devices, and portable sensors for facility-based monitoring. The contractor will be required to design, execute, and analyze experimental approaches, and provide deliverables such as a project work plan, literature and market update, CO2 sensing testbed, and final technical report. The contract type will be a Firm-Fixed-Price research and development services contract.
• The contractor shall investigate and experimentally evaluate novel noninvasive approaches for carbon dioxide sensing that could be miniaturized for home-use and portable ward monitoring devices.
• The contractor shall propose and justify the specific technical approaches in the Project Work Plan for VA COR review and approval.
• The contractor shall design, build, and document an experimental testbed capable of evaluating novel noninvasive CO2 sensing approaches as defined in the approved Project Work Plan.
• The contractor shall develop and document an experimental protocol for controlled CO2 stimulation or modulation to evaluate sensor response.
