Claiborne Pell Bridge West Tower Elevator Repair

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is seeking bids from qualified elevator repair contractors to replace the traveling cable for the service elevator in the west tower of the Newport Pell Bridge. The scope of work includes furnishing and installing a new traveling cable, making necessary wiring and retrofitting adjustments, testing for proper operation, and returning the unit to service. A mandatory site visit will occur on October 30, 2025, at 10:00 am to review the service elevator and controls. The bid specifications and requirements are outlined in the solicitation document. • The bidder must demonstrate that it is able to perform a substantial portion of the work using its own workforce. • Any bidder that does not maintain a permanent workforce and/or proposes to perform a disproportionate amount of the work through one or more subcontractors may be considered unqualified. • The successful bidder must establish to the satisfaction of RITBA the reliability and responsibility of any subcontractors proposed to perform any work pursuant to this solicitation. • The bidder must submit a bid proposal that includes the costs for the specified allowances and modifications required by the addenda. • The bid proposal is irrevocable for 60 days from the bid proposal submission deadline.
