Active nuclear interrogation with ghost imaging Request for Information (RFI)

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is requesting information on fundamental Science and Technology (S&T) advances for the development of novel active nuclear interrogation techniques using Ghost Imaging (GI). The agency seeks information on the use of correlated particles, such as neutrons, gamma ray photons, and others, in variations of classical, quantum, and computational GI for active nuclear interrogation. Respondents should provide quantitative comparisons of key performance parameters, such as resolution, specificity, dynamic range, and Signal-to-Noise Ratios (S/N), to the state of the art. Some key points of interest include: • Sources of correlated particles and beams • Detectors for active interrogation with GI • Computational methods, including computational ghost imaging • Modeling and simulation capabilities to predict the performance of active interrogation systems with GI • Support data analysis approaches, including Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) methods
