Description

The City of Columbia is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to replace or install new infrastructure to the existing storm drainage system in the neighborhood along North Tanglewood Drive. The work under this project will be largely trenchless cured-in-place-pipe lining of the existing pipes, geopolymer lining of existing pipes, and limited areas of excavation for the replacement or installation of new infrastructure. The project includes the installation of bypass pipelines, temporary bypass pumping structures, and concrete thrust and anchor blocks. The contractor will be required to provide proof of financial responsibility and to submit a bid bond, payment bond, and performance bond. The city reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Some key points to consider: • The project will address deficiencies in the existing storm drainage system in the neighborhood along North Tanglewood Drive. • The work will include trenchless cured-in-place-pipe lining, geopolymer lining, and limited excavation for new infrastructure. • The contractor must provide proof of financial responsibility and submit various bonds. • The city encourages participation from Local Business Enterprises (LBEs), Small, Women-Owned, Minority, Veteran, or Disadvantaged or Historically Underutilized Businesses. • The project has a goal of 8% participation from Columbia Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (CDBEs). Some benefits of this project include: • Improved storm drainage system to protect residential and commercial properties. • Opportunities for local businesses to participate in the project. • Potential for long-term cost savings through the use of trenchless technologies.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work and the typical costs associated with storm drainage system construction. The project involves the replacement or installation of new infrastructure, including trenchless cured-in-place-pipe lining, geopolymer lining, and limited excavation. The cost of these services can vary widely depending on the location, materials, and labor required. However, based on industry benchmarks, the total project cost could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. The city's goal of 8% participation from CDBEs may also impact the project's cost. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include: - The complexity of the project, including the number of locations and the type of infrastructure required. - The materials and equipment required for the project, including the cost of pipe lining and geopolymer materials. - The labor costs associated with the project, including the number of workers required and their level of expertise. - The city's requirements for bonding and insurance, which may impact the contractor's costs.
