Description

The County of Butte is seeking bids for the removal and disposal/recycling of waste tires generated at a series of one-day tire amnesty events at the Neal Road Recycling & Waste Facility. The contractor will be responsible for picking up waste tires collected over a series of one-day collection events, including standard passenger car and light truck tires (not exceeding 36” O.D.) both on and off the rim. The contractor will also be required to report the quantity, by weight, of tires collected from the facility after every event. The contractor will be allowed to retain all scrap value derived from the collected tires and rims but will be responsible for the disposal costs of any residual non-recyclable items. • The contract will be for a term of three years, with the option for the County to extend the contract for an additional two years pending additional grant funding. • The contractor will be required to provide assurances that all materials collected are handled, shipped, dismantled, and disposed of in a manner that meets all Federal and State requirements. • The contractor will be compensated on a time and materials basis for a total not-to-exceed contract price, according to the rates provided in the bid. • The County will provide a certified public scale for weighing of outbound tires, set up appointments for tire drop off, and provide traffic control.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is estimated to be between $200,000 and $500,000 over the three-year contract term. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contractor will be paid on a time and materials basis, with the rates provided in the bid. The actual budget will depend on the number of tire amnesty events held, the quantity of waste tires collected, and the rates provided by the contractor. The County's budget for this contract, as well as the rates provided by the contractor, will influence the likely payment range.
