Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a sole-source contract for the provision of nucleic acid-based reagents for in vivo transient protein expression. The reagents will be used to investigate preventive strategies against viral infections, including HIV, SIV, and HTLV, in preclinical models. The proposed work aims to utilize nucleic-acid based reagents that express viral antigens as a preventive treatment. The requested reagents should provide broader activity against related viral subtypes and other cancer-inducing viruses. • The contract is for the National Cancer Institute and Center for Cancer Research. • The supplier should be able to provide reagents that are consistent with materials used in previous preclinical studies. • The reagents can vary in formulation, synthesis methods, and purity, and the supplier should ensure consistency to enable direct comparison with previously generated data. • The contract will be awarded to Trustees of The University of Pennsylvania - Penn Medicine.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this contract is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific amount. However, considering the nature of the contract, which involves the provision of nucleic acid-based reagents for preclinical studies, the budget is likely to be in the range of a few hundred thousand dollars to a few million dollars. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contract will involve a relatively small-scale production of reagents, and the cost will depend on the complexity of the reagents, the quantity required, and the duration of the contract. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of raw materials, labor, and equipment, as well as the level of expertise required to produce the reagents.
