WEST MAIN STREET UTILITIES PHASE 1 – GAS MAIN REPLACEMENT

The City of Charlottesville is seeking bids for the West Main Street Utilities Phase 1 – Gas Main Replacement project, which involves the installation of approximately 4,320 linear feet of new gas mains, services, and associated appurtenances to replace aging and undersized low-pressure (LP) gas infrastructure with a 90 PSIG distribution system. The project aims to improve system reliability, safety, and operational performance within the West Main Street corridor and surrounding streets. The contractor will be responsible for providing all supervision, equipment, labor, and materials necessary to complete the work as described in the specifications/scope of work. Key aspects of the project include: • Installation of new gas mains and services • Replacement of aging and undersized infrastructure • Improvement of system reliability, safety, and operational performance • Coordination with utility companies to mark and locate buried utilities • Protection and replacement or repair of damaged utilities at the contractor's expense The project is expected to commence on June 2, 2026, with substantial completion by November 3, 2026, and final completion by December 9, 2026.
