Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New Orleans District is seeking sources for a project entitled Mississippi River and Tributaries, Morganza to the Gulf (MTG) Project located in Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes, Louisiana. The purpose of this solicitation is to determine potential clay borrow material sources that could be used for the MTG Project. The total quantity of clay borrow material needed is approximately 54,000,000 cubic yards to complete initial construction of the full levee system. * The project involves the construction of a levee system to provide hurricane and storm damage reduction. * Commercial clay borrow sources are being sought to provide clay borrow material for the project. * The sources sought announcement is a tool to identify entities that are currently in the business of selling commercial clay borrow material. * Respondents must provide a statement of capability, all requirements listed in Appendix A, and a CAGE Code and DUNS number. * The USACE team will assess the package for completeness and make a determination as to whether the proposed site meets the requirements of an existing commercial clay borrow source.

Budget estimate

$400,000,000 – $700,000,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity is difficult to determine because the document does not provide a specific contract value. However, based on the total quantity of clay borrow material needed (approximately 54,000,000 cubic yards), the budget could be substantial. The cost of extracting and transporting the clay borrow material will depend on various factors such as the location of the commercial clay borrow source, the distance to the construction site, and the cost of labor and equipment. Assuming an average cost of $10 per cubic yard of clay borrow material, the total budget could be in the range of $540,000,000. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specifics of the contract and the commercial clay borrow sources selected.
