Description

The City of Monterey is seeking licensed electrical firms to provide comprehensive services for its traffic signal infrastructure, including emergency repairs, routine preventive maintenance, scheduled upgrades, new equipment installations, and ad‑hoc electrical work. The scope covers 56 traffic signals, 24 radar speed feedback signs, 6 rectangular rapid‑flashing beacon systems, 6 flashing beacons, and the ongoing implementation of a SCOOT adaptive traffic‑control system. This contract will enable the city to maintain safe, reliable, and modern traffic‑management hardware across its roadway network. • Provide 24/7 emergency response for traffic‑signal failures and related electrical issues. • Conduct regular preventive maintenance and inspections on all listed signal assets. • Perform scheduled upgrades, new equipment installations, and integration of adaptive‑control technologies (SCOOT). • Supply ad‑hoc electrical services as needed for the city’s traffic‑management infrastructure. • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal electrical codes and standards.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

Based on the number of assets (56 signals, 24 radar signs, and multiple beacon systems) and the typical municipal rates for emergency and preventive electrical services, the annual contract value is likely in the mid‑hundreds of thousands to low‑millions of dollars. Assuming an average of $5,000‑$10,000 per signal per year for maintenance, plus additional funds for emergency response and upgrades, a reasonable estimate would be roughly $500,000 to $2,000,000 per year.
