Takotna Power Plant M&I Project

This contract covers the Mechanical & Instrumentation (M&I) construction, testing, and commissioning of the Takotna Power Plant in remote Takotna, Alaska. The scope includes installation of new mechanical and instrumentation systems, integration with existing generators, and ensuring the plant can operate as a temporary manual transfer switch. The work must be completed on a firm‑fixed‑price lump‑sum basis, with all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision provided by the contractor. The project is small‑procurement, limited to a $50‑$80 k cost bracket, and requires the contractor to post performance and payment bonds equal to 50 % of the contract price, as well as standard insurance coverage. The contract is awarded to a single vendor (Sturgeon Electric) and must be finished by early October 2019, with testing completed by the end of September.
