Description

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is offering a technology/business opportunity for the Shaped-Charge Modification for Multiple Charge Outputs. This technology allows for the manufacture of a liner with an added variable mass component, which can precisely control and alter the collapse of the liner, resulting in a single charge that can provide multiple output options. The advantages of this technology include decreased cost, faster iteration of charge designs, and the ability to tailor charge output to a given target. Potential applications for this technology include military, oil/shale well perforation, pyrotechnic cutting, and high-explosive demolition. • Decreased cost • Iterate charge designs faster • Tailor charge output to a given target • Produce multiple types of charge output with the same liner • Simplify liner machining while retaining control of liner collapse via the addition of the variable mass component

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $1,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not specify a specific amount or range. However, considering the potential applications of the technology, including military and oil/shale well perforation, the budget could be substantial. A possible estimate could be in the range of $100,000 to $1,000,000, depending on the scope and scale of the project. The factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the technology, the potential market demand, and the level of competition.
