Description

The Charge Ready NY 2.0 program is a New York State incentive that subsidizes the installation of Level 2 electric‑vehicle charging stations at qualifying workplace or multi‑unit‑dwelling sites. Eligible equipment owners (or their installers) may receive $3,000 per charging port, or $4,000 per port in a Disadvantaged Community, with additional bonuses for larger installations. Applicants must be NY‑registered entities, submit a pre‑installation application, complete installation within 180 days of approval, and provide extensive documentation (permits, agreements, photos, data‑reporting setup) within 90 days of installation. The program requires a five‑year operation period, data reporting, and compliance with site‑signage and safety standards. Funding is limited to $12 million for base incentives plus $3 million for bonus incentives, and applications are accepted on a first‑come‑first‑served basis until the deadline or exhaustion of funds. • Incentive: $3,000/port ( $4,000 in DAC ) plus optional $1,000 for fleet‑reserved ports. • Eligible sites: workplaces and multi‑unit dwellings in NY, with minimum 4 ports and maximum 40 ports per site. • Required documentation: permits, Site Host Agreement, Equipment Owner Agreement, Installer Agreement, equipment certifications, photos, network‑service proof, and EVSE notification to the Dept. of Agriculture & Markets. • Timeline: pre‑approval → install ≤ 180 days → post‑installation paperwork ≤ 90 days → payment within 30 days of approval.

Budget estimate

$5,000 – $100,000

Based on the $3,000–$4,000 incentive per port and typical installation fees of $1,000–$2,000 per port charged by contractors, a modest 4‑port project would generate roughly $5,000–$10,000 in contractor revenue, while a larger 40‑port deployment could yield $40,000–$80,000. Factoring in travel, engineering design, and reporting overhead, the expected earnings for an installer range from a few thousand dollars for small sites up to six‑figure amounts for multi‑site, high‑port projects.
