The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is offering free energy audits to eligible farms and on-farm producers, including dairies, orchards, greenhouses, and more, to help identify energy efficiency measures and reduce operating expenses. The program provides two types of energy audits: Comprehensive and Targeted. The Comprehensive Audit is a detailed energy audit that includes calculated evaluations of appropriate energy efficiency measures, while the Targeted Audit is focused on specific systems or energy efficiency measures. Greenhouse facilities can also receive a benchmarking report that describes their energy use intensity and benchmarks their facility against an anonymous aggregate of peer facilities.
• Eligible applicants must be customers of New York State investor-owned utilities and contribute to the electric System Benefits Charge (SBC).
• Applications will be processed in the order they are received, and NYSERDA expects to notify applicants in approximately two weeks from the receipt of an application whether their application has been selected to receive an audit or benchmark report.
• The program has $3,500,000 available in funding, and NYSERDA reserves the right to extend and/or add funding to the solicitation.
• The goal of the program is to assist farms and growers in becoming more energy efficient and reducing operating expenses to maintain profitability and long-term farm viability.
