Columbia Energy Center Generator Step-Up Transformer

The City of Columbia is seeking a contractor to provide a generator step-up transformer for the Columbia Energy Center. The transformer should be designed and constructed in accordance with the latest revision of the applicable Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), ASTM International (ASTM), and National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards. The contractor will be responsible for delivering the transformer and related materials, unloading and placing the transformer onto its foundation, performing any required assembly, and performing field testing as specified. The contractor will also be responsible for providing a sufficient quantity of new insulating oil for complete filling and for furnishing touch-up paint sufficient for repairing 25% of the area on all factory-painted external surfaces. Some key points to consider: • The transformer should be capable of withstanding short-circuit forces without damage or displacement of the winding on the core. • The transformer should be designed for essentially full vacuum filling with insulating liquid in the field. • The contractor should provide a minimum of two circular, bolted manhole covers with raised three-quarters inch flanges. • The contractor should furnish devices that can operate properly and tolerate power supply and ambient temperature fluctuations. • The contractor should provide acceptable branch circuit protection for the space heater power supply.
