Description
The City of Lynchburg is seeking a qualified contractor to replace aging water mains on Oak Lane, Fairway Place, Hillview Drive, and Valorie Court. Approximately 3,210 linear feet of 6‑in. and 8‑in. ductile‑iron pipe will be installed, requiring trench excavation, pipe installation, and subsequent street restoration (trench patching, pavement striping, sidewalk and curb replacement). The contract includes utility coordination, traffic control, tree protection, and all associated materials, labor, and equipment. The work must be completed within 200 calendar days from the notice to proceed, with a $750 per day liquidated‑damage clause for late completion.
• Replace ~3,210 ft of undersized water mains with new 6‑in. / 8‑in. ductile‑iron pipe
• Perform trench rock excavation, backfill, and stone bedding
• Remove and replace pavement, sidewalks, curbs, and striping as needed
• Provide traffic control, tree protection fencing, and site restoration
• Submit a sealed bid (or online) by 3:00 PM, 1 Oct 2026; pre‑bid conference optional on 27 Aug 2026
• Contract duration: 200 days; $750/day liquidated damages for overruns
