The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is conducting market research to identify sources of U.S. produced pharmaceuticals. The department is seeking information from companies that can provide pharmaceuticals that are produced in the U.S., as defined in Executive Order 13944. The order defines a pharmaceutical as "produced in the United States" if the critical inputs used to produce the pharmaceutical are produced in the U.S. and if the finished drug product is manufactured, prepared, propagated, compounded, or processed in the U.S.
The department is particularly interested in pharmaceuticals that are listed on Attachment 1. Companies are asked to provide information about their products, including the origin of various ingredients and components, and to indicate whether they can meet certain minimum requirements, such as having a unique National Drug Code (NDC) and being able to provide a letter of commitment from the manufacturer.
The department's goal is to establish a contract with a one-year base period plus four one-year option periods, which would provide customers with continuity and consistency of product.
Some key points to consider:
• The department is seeking pharmaceuticals that are produced in the U.S.
• Companies must be able to provide a unique NDC for each product proposed
• Companies must be able to provide a letter of commitment from the manufacturer
• The department's goal is to establish a contract with a one-year base period plus four one-year option periods
