The Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District is seeking bids for the 2025 Electrical Equipment Maintenance Testing Project. The project involves routine maintenance testing of large electrical equipment such as dry type transformers, metal clad transformers, low and high voltage motors, low voltage MCC's, substation transformers, automatic transfer switches, low voltage power circuit breakers, freon type transformers, and low voltage molded case circuit breakers. The project is located at MMSD's Nine Springs Wastewater Treatment Plant and its 18 Regional Pump Stations, all located in Dane County, Wisconsin.
Key responsibilities of the contractor will include:
* Performing maintenance testing on various electrical equipment
* Inspecting equipment for physical damage
* Checking equipment nameplate information and connections
* Performing insulation resistance tests
* Calibrating voltage sensing and transfer time delay relays
* Monitoring and verifying correct operation and timing of equipment
* Providing test reports and notifying the owner of any deficiencies found
* Advising the owner on routine checks required for freon type transformers
* Maintaining low voltage power circuit breakers, freon filled substation transformers, and low voltage molded case thermal-magnetic circuit breakers
* Performing infrared scanning of electrical equipment
* Checking for excessive heating, cracks, or other defects in equipment
* Performing contact resistance tests and insulation resistance tests
* Notifying the owner of any measured resistance values of less than 1,000,000 ohms
