Description

The United States Department of Agriculture – Southeast Area is seeking a Long-Read Large Genome Sequencer. The sequencer must be capable of sequencing reads up to a minimum of 20kb fragments and detecting 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) modifications in DNA sequences. The instrument must produce data in either FASTQ and/or BAM formats, and training in its use must be included with its purchase. The period of performance is not later than 60 days after award. • The sequencer must sequence larger genomes (i.e., animal) and produce 90 GB of sequencing data. • The sequencer needs to be able to sequence smaller fragments for other types of analysis like transcriptome studies. • Instruments must be able to detect 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) modifications in DNA sequences. • Data generated must be produced in either FASTQ and/or BAM formats. • Training in the use of the instrument must be included with its purchase and provide reagents for the training.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000. This estimation is based on the fact that the instrument is a specialized piece of equipment for genome sequencing, and such instruments can be quite expensive. Additionally, the requirement for training and reagents may add to the overall cost. However, without more specific information about the instrument and its capabilities, it is difficult to provide a more precise estimate. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the specific features and capabilities of the sequencer, the cost of training and reagents, and the level of competition among bidders.
