Description

Beaufort County, SC is seeking a qualified contractor to replace the existing floating dock at the Broad River Boat Landing. The project involves demolition of seven existing dock sections and installation of seven new aluminum floating dock segments (four of one design and three of another), each 20 ft × 8 ft, complete with aluminum pontoons, HDPE pile‑guide rollers, and cleats. The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, bonding (5 % bid bond, 100 % performance/payment bonds), and obtain necessary permits. Shop drawings for the floating segments must be submitted for County engineering approval prior to fabrication. The contract is awarded on a firm‑price basis; bids are due electronically by 3 pm on September 23, 2026. A non‑mandatory pre‑bid virtual meeting is scheduled for September 10, 2026. The work must be completed within 30 calendar days of the purchase order issuance, with delivery of materials within 60 days of order receipt. Small‑ and minority‑business participation requirements and extensive compliance reporting are included. • Replace 7 floating dock sections (total ~1,120 sq ft). • Demolish existing dock, dispose of debris per regulations. • Install 7 new aluminum dock sections with pile‑guide systems. • Submit and obtain approval of shop drawings. • Provide 5 % bid bond and 100 % performance/payment bonds. • Complete construction within 30 days of award. • Comply with Title VI, safety, and small‑business participation mandates.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The solicitation does not disclose a contract ceiling. Based on typical costs for marine dock replacements—aluminum pontoons, pile‑guide systems, demolition, permitting, bonding, and a 30‑day schedule—a modest county dock project of this size (≈7 × 20 ft × 8 ft sections) usually falls in the $200,000‑$500,000 range. The low end assumes minimal site complications and standard material costs; the high end accounts for premium aluminum, extensive permitting, and the required performance/payment bonds.
