The Mid Klamath River Fall Chinook Spawner Survey is a project aimed at determining in-river run size, run timing, spawning distribution, length frequency, and sex ratio for fall Chinook salmon. The project also involves collecting fish scale, tissue, and otolith samples, and recover heads from adipose fin clipped salmon. The survey is a cooperative effort between the Mid Klamath Watershed Council, the USDA Forest Service, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and other partners. The project's objectives include:
* Determining in-river run size (escapement) of Chinook salmon within the Salmon River and Klamath Basin
* Determining run timing, spawning distribution, length frequency, and sex ratio for fall Chinook salmon
* Collecting fish scale, tissue, and otolith samples, and recover heads from adipose fin clipped salmon
* Collecting incidental information on coho salmon and steelhead observed during the course of the study
* Contributing to redd mapping efforts by acquiring GPS waypoints at all redd locations on the North Fork, South Fork and mainstem Salmon River
* Continuing to provide training and education to volunteers and local communities
