NIJ Compliance Testing Program and Equipment Standards Support Services

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is seeking a contractor to provide technical and program support services for the NIJ Compliance Testing Program. The program supports the development of standards and conformity assessment activities for criminal justice equipment. The contractor will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of processes that manufacturers follow to move their products through the NIJ Compliance Testing Program, administering processes associated with initial certification testing and product surveillance, and providing technical support services. The key areas of work include: • Standards development and technical support • Conformity assessment and certification support • Technical analysis and report preparation • Program and project management support • Laboratory and manufacturer site visit support • Stakeholder coordination and meeting support • Preparation of required contract deliverables The contractor will work closely with NIJ staff and will be required to provide creative and innovative solutions for administration of the NIJ Compliance Testing Program. The contractor will also be responsible for troubleshooting routine issues with body armor manufacturers and ballistics laboratories, as well as addressing novel, critical, ambiguous, or sensitive issues related to conformity assessment of equipment.
