The USDA Forest Service is seeking a contractor to provide forestry-related commercial services for the cutting and decking of dead trees at three sites in California: El Cariso/Los Pinos Admin sites, Blue Jay Campground, and Falcon Group Campground. The contractor will be responsible for cutting and decking 824 individual dead trees, primarily less than 12 inches in diameter, using hand tools and low-ground-pressure equipment. The contractor may also be required to perform additional work, such as removing softwood logs, oak species in chip form, and treating vegetation at recreation sites. The period of performance is from September 7, 2026, to April 30, 2027.
Some key points to consider:
• The contract is a total small business set-aside, and only current BPA holders are eligible to submit quotes.
• The contractor will be required to restore staging areas, skid trails, and tractor roads to near pre-treatment conditions.
• The contractor may be awarded work items by unit/acre, and the unit prices quoted will be used to determine the amount of work awarded.
• A site visit is scheduled for July 31 to view the project area and discuss the objectives of the contract.
