Description

The University of Wisconsin‑Madison’s Department of Physics is seeking four large‑field‑of‑view custom objective lenses for a neutral‑atom tweezer array. The lenses must meet precise optical specifications (NA 0.6, 3 mm FOV, multi‑wavelength coating, titanium housing, etc.) and be delivered FOB destination with all freight and insurance prepaid. Bidders must provide the physical lenses, Zemax optical design files, CAD models, full data sheets, warranty details, and disclose country of origin, shipping point, importer of record, and tariff handling. The procurement is conducted electronically via the ShopUW+ JAGGAER portal; all bidders must have an active JAGGAER profile and submit a complete bid package (vendor form, client references, DOA‑3054 acceptance, proprietary information disclosure, warranty statement, and certifications) by the deadline. The award will be based on the lowest responsive price that meets the technical requirements. • Quantity: 4 custom objective lenses (each). • Technical specs: NA 0.6, ~16.7 mm focal length, 3 mm FOV, 10 mm + 5 mm + 1 mm working distance, wavelengths 780/795/850/1530 nm, titanium housing. • Deliverables: lenses, Zemax files, CAD models, data sheets, warranty, origin/tariff disclosures. • Submission: electronic via ShopUW+ (JAGGAER) by 2 PM CT, 6 Oct 2026; public bid opening 3 PM CT same day.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $600,000

Custom, research‑grade objective lenses of this specification typically range from $50,000 to $150,000 per unit depending on tolerances, coating complexity, and titanium housing. For four lenses, the total contract value is likely between $200,000 and $600,000. This estimate assumes inclusion of design‑file delivery, warranty, and freight (FOB destination). Factors that could shift the range include bulk‑order discounts, additional shipping or import duties, and any required ancillary accessories or calibration services.
