Description

The City and Borough of Juneau is seeking bids for the North Lemon Creek Material Source Overburden Stripping project. The project involves clearing, stripping, and overburden removal work on a lump sum basis. The work includes constructing dedicated clean storm water diversion ditches and isolation berms, and removing overburden materials to the top of clean cobbles or clean gravel. The project is expected to take 45 days to complete, with a completion date of 30 days from the notice to proceed for Area 1 work and 45 days from the notice to proceed for Area 2 and Area 3 work. The estimated stripping volumes are 66,250 sq ft, 12,268 BCY OVB @ 5' thick for Area 1, 107,400 sq ft, 19,888 BCY OVB @ 5' thick for Area 2, and 86,800 sq ft, 16,074 BCY OVB @ 5' thick for Area 3. The engineer's estimate range is between $250,000 and $300,000. • The project requires the contractor to prioritize work and complete it in a specific order, with Area 1 work to be completed within 30 days from the notice to proceed. • The contractor must coordinate work activities with other quarry users to avoid conflicts and safety issues. • The contractor must take every measure required to avoid interfering with mining operations. • The contractor must remove overburden materials to the top of clean cobbles or clean gravel and haul and dispose of them at the overburden disposal area on site. • The contractor must construct dedicated clean storm water diversion ditches and isolation berms to effectively isolate clean storm water from disturbed areas of the site and direct storm water into existing drainages at the site perimeter.

Budget estimate

$250,000 – $300,000

Based on the engineer's estimate range of $250,000 to $300,000, the budget for this project is likely to be in the same range, with the actual amount depending on the bid price and any potential change orders or modifications to the project scope. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the work, the availability of materials and labor, and the contractor's ability to complete the project on time and within budget.
