Description

The Village of Estero is seeking bids for the treatment of non-native invasive plants on approximately 31.02 acres of Village Trails. The project involves the treatment of exotic plants and nuisance plants, including small bamboo, ragweed, dogfennel, and cattail. The contractor will be required to use labeled herbicides approved for use by the FDEP and to apply them in a manner that protects non-target organisms, the environment, and the public. The contractor must also ensure that all on-site crew members know how to identify the FISC listed invasive exotics from the native vegetation. • The project area is located at 8791 Corkscrew Road, Estero, Florida 33928. • The contractor must have experience in successfully working in wetlands and mitigation areas. • The contractor must provide a project summary detailing the dates of treatments, solution mixture, total amount applied, species treated, and acreage completed. • The contractor must ensure that all vehicles and equipment used during the project have logos or printed paper on dashboards identifying the contracting firm and contact phone number. • The Village will provide a combination lock on the identified access gate for contractor access once the project has been awarded. Some of the key requirements for the contractor include: • Using the most recent edition of the FISC List at the time of herbicide application • Applying herbicides per manufacturer’s recommendations by a state-licensed pesticide applicator • Adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations governing the application, transportation, storage, use, and disposal of products used in the performance of the contract • Providing a copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet for each type of herbicide used • Ensuring that all herbicides contain a fluorescent non-toxic dye to allow for monitoring of herbicide dispersal • Applying herbicides in a manner that protects non-target organisms, the environment, and the public

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Based on the project requirements, the budget for this opportunity is estimated to be around $200,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contractor will need to use specialized equipment and labor to treat the non-native invasive plants and nuisance plants on the 31.02 acres of land. The cost of herbicides, equipment, and labor will be the main factors influencing the budget. Additionally, the contractor's experience and qualifications will also play a role in determining the budget.
