The Alabama Department of Corrections is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive fire‑extinguisher and fire‑hydrant maintenance services for its Birmingham Region facilities. The work includes annual inspections, 5‑year and 6‑year servicing, 12‑year hydrostatic testing of dry‑chemical extinguishers, repair‑part mark‑up pricing, labor and travel rates, and a one‑year charge warranty on serviced units. Pricing is bidder‑submitted per‑unit rates rather than a fixed contract ceiling, and the contract runs for an initial 12‑month base period with up to four optional 12‑month extensions.
• Inspect, service, and hydrostatically test all portable fire extinguishers per NFPA 10 and OSHA 1910.157 standards.
• Inspect and test fire hydrants; provide repair‑part markup, labor‑hour, and travel‑mile rates.
• Supply a 7 am‑5 pm customer‑service line with rapid voicemail callback and three‑day emergency‑service response.
