Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking a qualified contractor to provide on‑call hazardous‑waste disposal, transportation, recycling, and related services for its District 01 maintenance facilities in Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties. The work includes collection, packaging, transport, disposal or recycling of a broad range of regulated wastes (e.g., hazardous chemicals, petroleum‑based materials, biomedical waste, batteries, PCBs, etc.), roadside biohazard cleanup, sump cleaning, and compliance reporting. Bidders must hold a full suite of state and federal permits, maintain required insurance, and meet prevailing‑wage and small‑business preference requirements. The contract is a three‑year, multi‑year agreement with a ceiling of approximately $1.5 million.
• Provide on‑call removal, packaging, transport, and disposal/recycling of hazardous and regulated waste at 28 Caltrans maintenance sites.
• Supply dual‑rated drums, containers, and required documentation (manifests, spill diaries) and meet SB 1383 organic‑waste recycling mandates.
• Maintain extensive licensing (CSLB Class A, HAZ certification, Motor Carrier Permit, hazardous‑material transport licenses) and insurance (general liability, pollution liability, workers’ comp) throughout the contract term.
