US 101 De La Cruz Blvd & Trimble Rd Improvement Project Year 2, Year 3. (Plant Establishment Period)

The City of San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority are seeking a contractor to provide landscape maintenance services for the US 101/De La Cruz Boulevard/Trimble Road Improvement Project. The project involves maintaining the landscaping features within the City of San Jose and Caltrans' right of way during the Year 2 and Year 3 Plant Establishment Period. The contractor will be responsible for furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, services, supervision, and incidentals necessary to maintain the landscaping features. Key responsibilities include controlling weeds, pruning trees and shrubs, applying fertilizers and pesticides, and maintaining irrigation systems. The contract has a duration of 500 working days. • The contractor must control weeds within the highway, including medians and surfaced areas, by hand pulling or using pesticides. • The contractor must prune trees, shrubs, and vines in conformance with the provisions of Section 20-3.01C(2) of the Standard Specifications. • The contractor must apply slow-release fertilizer to plants during the 1st week of March and October of each year. • The contractor must maintain the existing automatic irrigation systems, including operating, checking, adjusting, and repairing or replacing valves, valve boxes, sprinklers, and other equipment. • The contractor must submit a proposed maintenance and inspection schedule and checklist of required activities within 10 days after Notice to Proceed by Engineer.
