CITYWIDE BULK ROCK SALT

The City of Charlottesville is soliciting sealed bids from qualified contractors to furnish and deliver Bulk Snow/Ice Control Rock Salt with anti-caking agent. The contract shall be for three years beginning July 20, 2026, with the option to renew under the terms of the original agreement for up to seven additional one-year terms if agreed upon in writing by both parties. The City anticipates needing approximately 2,000 tons of salt per year but reserves the right to order more or order less. Key requirements include: • Orders will be placed by the ton on an as-needed basis and will be delivered to the Salt Storage Building located at the City of Charlottesville Public Works Center. • Deliveries shall be made between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. • Salt deliveries shall be made with trucks equipped with tailgate dump trailers. • All trucks shall be covered with approved waterproof material during transport. • Deliveries of rock salt will be required to be free of any foreign materials. The City also seeks pricing for bulk rock salt pre-treated with liquid magnesium chloride, coloring, and corrosion-inhibiting agents, as well as a highly effective liquid de-icing agent.
