Description

The City of Worcester is seeking qualified vendors to supply bulk rock salt and treated rock salt for its Department of Public Works and Parks for a one‑year period. The contract will cover roughly 20,000 tons of plain rock salt and 4,000 tons of treated salt, with strict purity (≥ 96 %) and particle‑size specifications, and requires delivery to three city locations within five calendar days (or 24 hours for urgent orders). Up to three vendors may be awarded the bulk salt portion (primary, secondary, tertiary), and the city reserves the right to pick up a portion of the supply via a private hauler. No bid bond is required, but bidders must provide the required insurance coverage.

Budget estimate

$1,500,000 – $2,000,000

Based on the disclosed unit prices (approximately $67–$90 per ton) and the estimated quantities (20,000 tons of plain salt and 4,000 tons of treated salt), the contract value is likely in the range of $1.5 million to $2.0 million. The lower end assumes the minimum price for plain salt and treated salt; the higher end assumes the maximum quoted rates.
