Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Nikon Instruments Inc. for a camera upgrade for the Nikon Ti2 microscope. The proposed replacement sCMOS camera (Teledyne Photometrix Kinetix) has a 30mm sensor size and a 500 FPS capture rate, allowing for higher throughput of imaging on the microscope. The Kinetix sCMOS has the necessary extreme speed, high sensitivity, and high resolution to meet the needs of the Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics (LCBG) Microscopy Core Facility. • The upgrade is for a Nikon Eclipse Ti2 microscope in the LCBG Microscopy Core Facility. • The proposed replacement camera has a 30mm sensor size, which is 40% larger than the old camera. • The new camera has a 500 FPS capture rate, allowing for 40% more data per FOV at over 10x the speed of the current camera. • The Kinetix sCMOS has a near perfect 96% Quantum Efficiency. • Items to be integrated and supported by Nikon Instruments, Inc. must be purchased through Nikon to ensure proper integration, safety standards, and performance to factory specifications.

Budget estimate

$10,000 – $50,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $10,000 to $50,000, considering the cost of a high-end scientific camera and the fact that it is a sole-source contract. The actual budget may vary depending on the specific requirements of the project and the negotiations between the NIH and the contractor. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of the camera, the complexity of the integration and support required, and the level of competition in the market.
