Heart Butte Dam Safety of Dams Modification

The Heart Butte Dam Safety of Dams Modification project is a comprehensive construction effort aimed at enhancing the long-term safety, stability, and performance of the dam infrastructure. The scope of work includes dewatering and unwatering systems, cofferdam works, foundation void remediation, outlet works conduit rehabilitation, jet grouting operations, embankment excavation, filter and drainage system construction, toe drain system installation, earth retaining structures, and outlet conduit joint sealing. The government intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract with a period of performance of approximately 1,277 calendar days. Key aspects of the project include: • Dewatering and unwatering systems to facilitate dry working conditions • Cofferdam works to isolate work areas from reservoir and tailwater influences • Foundation void remediation to fill and stabilize voids or discontinuities within the foundation materials • Outlet works conduit rehabilitation to restore structural capacity and hydraulic performance • Jet grouting operations to improve ground strength and reduce permeability • Embankment excavation to facilitate installation of new filter and drainage systems • Filter and drainage system construction to meet modern dam safety standards • Toe drain system installation to enhance seepage monitoring and control • Earth retaining structures to support excavation faces and permanent embankment features • Outlet conduit joint sealing to prevent internal leakage and mitigate potential piping pathways
