Description

The Town of Kershaw is seeking a contractor to install a new waterline across the Lynches River. The scope includes installing approximately 320 linear feet of 12‑inch direct‑pipe (DIP) waterline within existing 24‑inch steel casing, an additional 182 linear feet of 12‑inch PVC waterline, placement of one fire hydrant, and all necessary appurtenances to replace the current bridge‑mounted 10‑inch waterline. The work will involve jack‑and‑bore techniques, pipe handling, connection to existing infrastructure, and testing for compliance. • 320 LF of 12‑inch DIP pipe installed within a 120 LF segment of 24‑inch steel casing • 182 LF of 12‑inch PVC waterline for the remaining run • Installation of one fire hydrant and associated fittings, valves, and backfill • Full site preparation, jack‑and‑bore operations, and final system testing

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $300,000

Based on typical industry rates for river‑crossing waterline installations (including material, labor, jack‑and‑bore equipment, and ancillary components), a 320‑LF DIP segment plus 182 LF of PVC, a fire hydrant, and associated appurtenances would likely range between $200 k and $300 k. Factors influencing this estimate include local labor rates, material prices for 12‑inch pipe, equipment rental, and site‑specific conditions such as river flow and access constraints.
