The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement to Rio Bravo Restoration for scientific support and investigation on the Rio Grande River. The project aims to provide technical and logistical support to other projects that will deliver data on habitat conditions, trends, and updated assessments of the Rio Grande and associated watersheds within Big Bend National Park and the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River. The project objectives include logistical support to a project that will survey the geomorphology of the Rio Grande within the Park, and provide logistical and technical support to biological and hydrological condition assessment surveys of the Rio Grande and associated uplands within Big Bend National Park and the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River.
Some key aspects of the project include:
• Control of invasive exotic vegetation along 12 miles of the Rio Grande River
• Riparian vegetation surveys along the Rio Grande River
• Scientific investigations in geomorphology and health of fisheries
• Logistical support to NPS and partners for scientific expeditions on the Rio Grande and associated riparian habitats
• Technical support, including science and ecological monitoring technicians, on science and resource management projects on the Rio Grande and associated ecosystems
