Description

The New York City Department for the Aging (NYC Aging) is releasing a concept paper to gather feedback on its Older Adult Center (OAC) Program, Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) Program, and Transportation Program. The OAC Program provides services such as congregate meal services, information and referral services, and educational activities to older adults. Key aspects of the programs include: * OACs and NORCs serving distinct purposes and having different locations to maximize service reach and program impact * The Transportation Program providing individual and group rides to older adults, with a focus on affordability and accessibility * NYC Aging considering changes to the programs, including introducing minimum and maximum thresholds for each service unit type to promote a more balanced approach to service delivery * The use of metrics to measure program effectiveness and reduce administrative burden * The possibility of subcontracting at no more than 25% of the total contract value for the OAC and NORC Programs * The potential for a line-item reimbursement based on actual expenditures for the OAC, NORC, and Transportation Programs Some of the key services provided by these programs include: * Congregate meal services and nutrition education * Information and referral services * Case assistance and healthcare assistance * Health promotion and educational activities * Non-emergency transportation to doctor's appointments, errands, and daily living needs * Group rides for recreational, social, and educational activities
